Knowledge Transfer

Beyond IntCDC – transfering knowledge between research and industry to promote economic and social innovation with mutual benefit

In order to transfer knowledge between research and industry, the results of basic research at IntCDC need to be taken one step further towards practical application. The transfer of knowledge from our research to the scientific and commercial sphere is an important part of encouraging economic and social innovation with mutual benefit.

IntCDC Ecosystem

Together with our colleagues from the University of Stuttgart, the Max-Planck-Institute for Intelligent Systems and Cyber Valley, we have created an ecosystem that actively supports knowledge transfer. IntCDC draws on the University of Stuttgart’s initiatives for supporting two-way knowledge transfer with industry and fostering a start-up culture, such as the Technology Transfer Initiative (TTI), the Transfer Centre (TRACES) and the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ENI). Additionally the University’s International Centre for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT) brings together scientists of different disciplines to foster exchange in the University and beyond.

Spin-Off and Start-up

The Cluster promotes an active start-up culture in order to spin-off and transfer findings into the industry.

The EXC – Start-Up Series jointly organized by the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI), the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC and the Cluster of Excellence SimTech, comprises the following components:

EXC – Start-up Talks

The EXC – Start-up Talks will feature discussions on current start-up topics with active and successful founders from the respective areas of the clusters. Topics will include such as success factors, collaborations and the path from research to market. The discussion involve other experts from the University of Stuttgart’s start-up network.

EXC – Start-up Lectures

The EXC – Start-up Lectures are designed to introduce researchers to topics that are necessary for starting their own business. These include legal aspects, IP, financing and market analysis. Experts from within the University and from Stuttgart’s ecosystem will give the lectures.

EXC – Start-up Workshops

The EXC – Start-up Workshops provide an interactive opportunity for researchers to develop a commercial perspective on their own research and potentially advance initial business ideas based on their research findings. The workshops will apply state-of-the-art start-up methodologies such as lean start-up.

The aim is to promote the founding of start-ups from research and its results.

IZKT

IntCDC cooperates with the university’s International Centre for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT) to bring together scientists from different disciplines and promote exchange within the University and beyond.

Platform digitize wood

The platform organizes a two-sided knowledge transfer between the local timber construction industry and the cluster´s research. It is attached to the IntCDC and funded by the Ministry of Rural Areas Baden-Württemberg.

Cyber Valley

Cyber Valley, funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg, is the largest European research consortium in the field of AI. As part of the Cyber Valley ecosystem, the IntCDC leverages synergies to harness the potential of computing and AI to establish an overarching methodology of co-design.

New European Bauhaus

The IntCDC is an official partner of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, which is based on the idea of co-design and aims to bring together the worlds of science and technology on the one hand and art and culture on the other.

IBA 27

The IntCDC Cluster of Excellence has a unique opportunity to showcase its Buildung Demonstrators at the International Building Exhibition IBA 2027 in Stuttgart.

IntCDC Constructive Conversations Lecture Series

The Cluster’s expert guest lecture series “IntCDC Constructive Conversations” ensures a close interaction with the larger research community by hosting renowned national and international scientists, including IntCDC Visiting Professors, and industry experts to present their insights on current topics and challenges in the field of IntCDC.

The lecture series is open to the public.
