In this network meeting we will look at living and design concepts for timber buildings with a focus on modular and prefabricated construction methods: What do timber buildings actually look like and what design and technical aspects determine their form?

Based on the research of the IntCDC Cluster of Excellence, Alya Rapaport looks at the prefabrication and modularity of multi-storey construction in the past, using historical examples from the 1960s and 1970s. Hana Svatos-Raznjevic shows the limits of the design scope of multi-storey timber buildings: their morphological typification, utilisation concepts and the question of the relationship between standardisation and creative design.

Hubert Nopper from AH Aktivhaus GmbH will give us an overview of Germany's largest Plus Energie Quarter, currently under construction in Stuttgart. He will shed light on the neighbourhood development in cooperation with the building owner and other project participants as well as the energy concept. Afterwards you are invited to join the discussion.

About Digitize Wood

The digitize wood platform links timber construction research at the IntCDC Cluster of Excellence at the University of Stuttgart with the timber construction industry in Baden-Württemberg. In a two-way knowledge transfer, the topics of digitisation and automation along the entire planning and manufacturing process are addressed. The regular network meetings are aimed at representatives from research, industry, trade and planning as well as interested parties.

digitize wood is based at the IntCDC and is funded by the Holzbau-Offensive BW.
