From aeroplane wings to daring building constructions and Velcro fasteners, the wealth of ideas found in nature provides a rich source of inspiration for humanity. Time and again, researchers turn to nature and its marvellous diversity to develop ideas that will shape the future.

Join Jan Knippers for his lecture on "Bionik für das Bauen der Zukunft" on 18 October 2024 and learn why biological structures are suitable as models for architecture for several reasons: They make careful use of scarce and locally available resources, they are embedded in a closed material cycle and they adapt to changing external conditions. The lecture will show examples of how nature's design principles can be applied to buildings.

At the Science Notes event, researchers, authors, and artists engage in discourse about BIONIK and the ways in which nature serves as a source of inspiration for them.

The well-known DJ and biologist Dominik Eulberg will accompany the evening with a live audiovisual show.

Further speakers:

- Prof. Dr. Sabine Ludwigs (Materialforschung)
- Dr. Olga Speck (Bionik)
- Prof. Dr. David Remy (Robotik)
- Thomas Victor (Cyborgs)
