Doctoral researcher Ann-Kathrin Wortmeier from the Institute for Social Sciences (SOWI) has participated in the IntCDC International Research Programme at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Below she shares her experiences to give fellow researchers a better insight into the programme.
Takk for en fin dag!
Since 1 February 2022, I have been working at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. I was warmly welcomed by the staff of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture. Not surprisingly, this institute has been voted as the friendliest institute at the Dragvoll Campus several times.
I met very enthusiastic and inspiring researchers who are also working on issues of sustainable building processes and the application of robots and technologies in the construction sector. I presented the research interests of the Cluster of Excellence in two research groups on the topics of digitalisation “DigiKULT” and energy, climate and environment “ENVi”. We discussed the application of exoskeletons and augmented reality technology in construction. Besides the interesting meetings, the working day is sweetened by weekly quizzes, basketball games and cake on Fridays!
It is well known that skiing is the most popular sport among Norwegians. Early on, one of the first questions asked was, “Do you like skiing?” and during the lunch with the colleagues, we talked about the beautiful skiing areas, the right choice of equipment and the different types of skiing. We continued the discussion during the “lønningspils” (after-work beer) and planned our first ski trip to the nearby Bymarka forest area.
I would like to thank the IntCDC, the SoWi team and KULT for making this research stay possible! Skål og tusen takk!
Thank you for your insights, Ann-Kathrin Wortmeier!
The IntCDC International Research Programme facilitates international collaboration and exchange of researchers on a scientific level. Funding and scholarships are provided to invite incoming researchers from the cooperating institutions to participate in research stays. In addition, the programme offers outgoing IntCDC researchers the opportunity to collaborate with our international partners.
