The livMatS Pavilion recieved the German Design Award 2023 “Special Mention” in the category “Excellent Architecture – Eco Design”!
The livMatS Pavilion offers a viable, resource-efficient alternative to conventional construction methods and represents an important step towards sustainability in architecture. Enabled by a novel combination of natural materials and advanced digital technologies, it is the first building ever with a load-bearing structure made entirely of robotically wound flax fibre, a material that is fully naturally renewable, biodegradable, and regionally available in Central Europe.
The German Design Awards are the largest prizes of the German Design Council and are among the most recognised international design awards. For eleven years now, the German Design Council has been honouring pioneering designers and their work with this coveted prize. Entries are judged by an international jury made up of leading experts from all disciplines of design.
