Fibrous Tectonics has been awarded the Materialpreis 2023 in the category Heartfelt projects.
The jury noted: “With Fibrous Tectonics, ICD / ITKE / IntCDC are continuing their consistent research into fiber systems in architecture, which results in resource-saving and efficient lightweight construction. The system made from natural flax fibers is not only material-efficient and renewable, but the raw material is regionally renewable and compostable. The technology is a showcase project for future lightweight ceiling construction because if we can significantly reduce the CO₂ emissions of a concrete ceiling with this method, that would be brilliant.”
Congratulations to the IntCDC researchers of the Institutes ICD and ITKE – Prof. Achim Menges, Prof. Jan Knippers, Katja Rinderspacher, Christoph Schlopschnat, Christoph Zechmeister, Niccolo Dambrosio, Rebeca Duque Estrada, Fabian Kannenberg, Marta Gil Pérez, Yanan Guo, our project partner FibR Gmbh Stuttgart, all the student assistants.
