We are pleased to announce two new papers by postdoctoral researcher Yana Boeva and tenure-track professor Thomas Wortmann, published in the second issue of “Automationen: Architektonische Intelligenz in den 2020er-Jahren” (Automations: Architectonic Intelligence in the 2020's) of the print journal “manege für architektur”.
In her essay “Timber Takes Command: Digitaler Holzbau als Urbaner Datenkapitalismus”, Yana Boeva retraces how the potential of digital timber construction could provide a source of public data to BigTech companies drawing on the failed project of Sidewalk Labs Toronto.
Thomas Wortmann and Christian Gänshirt (Politechnico di Milano) outline the latest developments in AI and their potential implications for architectural design in their essay “Entwerfen im Zeitalter der künstlichen Intelligenz: Eine Bestandsaufname und Prognose”.
