The Faculty 2 – Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Stuttgart invites applications for the following open position, at the earliest convenience:
Full Professorship (W3) in “Digital Construction Machines and Construction Robots”
The University of Stuttgart is a leading technical university in Germany and centrally located in one of Europe’s most important high-tech regions. Strengthening its internationally visible excellence in the area fo building construction and intelligent systems is a key strategic goal of the university. The Cluster of Excellence EXC 2120 "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture" (IntCDC) bundles the competencies of the University of Stuttgart in architecture, civil engineering, manufacturing and system engineering, computer science and robotics, social sciences and humanities to establish a globally unique centre for advanced research and construction innovation.
The professorship is located in research and teaching at the interface between civil engineering and mechanical engineering. The focus is on the research and development of next-generation digital construction machines and construction robots in the context of the associated construction processes.
The professorship will support thecresearch on cyber-physical construction processes in the topic area of the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC in close cooperation with the associated professorships by designing and engineering digital construction machines. This includes, for example, the development of onsite robots or distributed robotic systems for construction.
Embedded in the structural engineering and the different research fields of Faculty 2: Civil and Environmental Engineering, the professor is expected to contribute to interdisciplinary research in the areas of civil and mechanical engineering.
The position will involve teaching courses in English and in German in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes offered by the faculty, and teaching courses offered in collaboration with other faculties.
We are searching for a personality who should be distinguished by high-ranking scientific publications and/or comparable achievements with an excellent international visibility.
For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page. Conceivable successes are, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development or spin-offs.
