The recently established IntCDC Cluster of Excellence bundles the competencies of the University of Stuttgart in architecture, civil engineering, manufacturing and systems engineering, computer science and robotics, social sciences and humanities to establish a globally unique centre for advanced research and architectural innovation.

The professorship focuses on robotic building construction. It interlinks approaches to building construction in civil engineering with control engineering and computer science. The professorship contributes to the vision of a “cyber-physical construction site” and robotic construction of the Cluster of Excellence Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture (IntCDC). This includes the advancement of computational methods for building construction integration and the development of related construction systems, processes and control approaches for on-site construction robotics.

The professorship is embedded in Faculty 2: Civil and Environmental Engineering and in the IntCDC Cluster of Excellence. It is expected to strengthen the efforts of the Faculty and the Cluster in the area of digitalisation and contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching in engineering.
