Promoting early academic independence

The Cluster of Excellence IntCDC has established early career grants and awards to foster motivation and identification in the cluster, increasing the visibility of excellent early career researchers, honouring successful publications (IntCDC Best Publication Award) and excellent master's theses (IntCDC Master’s Thesis Award) and supporting research ideas with a high degree of originality (IntCDC Blue Sky Project Grant).

IntCDC Best Publication Award

The IntCDC Best Publication Award recognises up to two excellent publications per year to honour and strengthen early academic independence and dedication to academic work. It is endowed with €1,500 each.

IntCDC Blue Sky Project Grant

The IntCDC “Blue Sky” Project Grant, endowed with €10,000 recognizes a research idea for its originality, quality and risk-taking. It supports testing the feasibility of a research idea for a full dissertation or postdoctoral project.

All early career researchers and advanced master’s students from the IntCDC institutes are eligible to apply.

IntCDC Master's Thesis Award

The IntCDC Master’s Thesis Awards encourage excellent master’s students to realise a first step towards a prospective academic career by recognising excellent master’s theses research.

Up to two Master's Thesis Awards, each endowed with €500, will be granted each year to master’s students, who completed their master’s thesis at one of the institutes participating in IntCDC. Candidates have to be nominated by their thesis advisors.
